Jerry Paul Lindsay
2 de marzo de 1932 - 6 de agosto de 2024
2 de marzo de 1932 - 6 de agosto de 2024
Jerry P. Lindsay, age 92, passed away peacefully at age 92 on August 6, 2024. He was born on March 2, 1932 in Detroit, Michigan to James Lindsay and Vera (Buchanan) Lindsay.
Jerry always liked the complicated way of doing things: getting three college degrees (from Wayne State University and Chrysler Institute) while being team captain of Wayne State’s bowling team.
As a devoted husband and father, he also taught math at Lawrence Technical College (now University), bowled on a team and worked full time.
Jerry spent his career of fifty years as an Automotive Engineer at Chrysler, (usually a long drive from home) while also devoting time to local politics in Hamburg Township (his favorite place they lived) and Society of Automotive Engineers.
He found time to visit as many ballparks as he could with his son and son-in-law, and travel to Europe many times with Joan, his favorite person and beloved wife for 69 years.
At home he enjoyed setting up a tv, stereo or cable system in the most complex way so it took an engineer to figure out how to watch or listen to something.
Later in life he appreciated simple things: watching an episode of “Doc Martin” with Joan, keeping up to date with his grandchildren Lindsay, Julia, Andi and Jess, reading a book with his great grandchildren Vivian and Carson, a nice meal out with his son Fred and daughter Nancy or going to a Lansing Lugnuts baseball game with daughter Dorothy.
Jerry lived his life, whether complicated or simple, with humor, integrity, thoughtfulness, and humility. He always greeted people with a smile and a warm welcome - friend, neighbor, family member, or the wonderful caretakers of the Willows at Howell Legacy building. He will be greatly missed.
Donations can be made in his name to a humane society or animal shelter. He and Joan loved their basset hounds. Helping other dogs or cats find loving homes would be the best way to honor Jerry.
